Shab E Meraj is one of the most significant night in Islamic Shriya. On that night, Allah invited our beloved prophet Muhammad Peace be upon him after accepting the invitation prophet went to Arsh. The prophet visit many places that is not possible to visit as a human being.
Shab E Meraj

On that night, Allah make our way easy for going to Jannah by giving five times prayers. Actually, first of all it was 50 times. Prophet Muhammad tried many times to reduce the amount because it would be hard for us to perform daily 50 times prayers. Without it, the night has many importance to remember.

Shab e Meraj Celebration & Prayers

There are several ways to pray to Allah and perform good dids on this night. In this section, you will know everything about it. Here we have included several types of prayer which are acceptable to Allah. Our prophet and his partners has performed those on that night. Most of the Muslim know the common activities for everyday. But they are not sure what to do for a specific or special day or night. Here is the list below:

  • Perform Shab e Meraj Namaz
  • Reading the Holy Quran
  • Reading The Hadith
  • Performing Dua & Dhikr
  • Performing Fasting
According to the Quran and Sunnah, those are the most common activities that we can perform on this occasion. But it's not enough for you; I know that you want to know how to do those. That's why I have described one by one below.

Performing Shab E Meraj Namaz

Performing Salah as a celebration of Shab E Meraj is very good deeds. Our prophet peace be upon him also used to pray Namaz on that night. Before performing Salah, you have to make Odhu and you should be clean. Our Prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) said that you should always be in a clean state.  Because cleanliness is part of Iman.

You can pray in the mosque or at any place in the house, but it is good to go to the mosque. The place where the prayer is offered must be holy. In order to start praying, niyat is the most important, and niyat must specify how many rak'at prayers you are offering. So I think it is important to first discuss the rak'ats of the prayer, how many rak'ats you should pray.

There are no specific rules for how many rak'ah prayers should be performed. However, our Prophet (peace be upon him) prayed 6, 10 and 12 rak'ats. But, he did not specified. You can read as many rakats as you wish. Also, there is no specific time for this Salah. It's totally depends on your situation and time management.

How many rakat do you want to perform? If you want to pray 12 rakat, it can be divided into three parts by 4 rakat. Also, you can pray two rakat each; if you want to divided into six part. The same method is also applicable for 10 and six. It would be best if you pray two rakat in each of the part. Here is the simple rules:

Before making Salah you have to do niyat. It's meant you have to keep in mind now I'm praying namaz for Shab E Meraj and it can be mentioned four or two rakat. Every rakat will be start with the sura fatiha. Many people confused about another sura; you can recite sura ikhlash three times in each rakat. Others activities same as traditional Salah.

Reading the Holy Quran

Holy Quran is the guidelines for all nations. We Muslims follow every verse of the holy Quran. Reading Quran is best nafl pray. So, reciting Holy Quran in the special day is also special. You can read it from anywhere. If you don't know the meaning of the Arabic language, no problem! No need to know the translations; you will get reward for every letter. Allah said in the very first chapter of the Quran:
This is the Book (the Quran), whereof there is no doubt, guidance to those who are Al-Muttaqoon [the pious]” (Quran, 2:2)
Our beloved prophet said:
Whoever recites ten Ayahs (verses) in qiyaam will not be recorded as one of the forgetful. Whoever recites a hundred Ayahs (verses) in qiyaam will be recorded as one of the devout, and whoever prays a thousand Ayahs (verses) in qiyaam will be recorded as one of the muqantareen (those who pile up good deeds). (Abu Dawood)
Verily the one who recites the Quran beautifully, smoothly, and precisely, he will be in the company of the noble and obedient angels. And as for the one who recites with difficulty, stammering or stumbling through its verses, then he will have TWICE that reward. (Sahih Al-Bukhari).

Reading The Hadith

After the Quran, Hadith is the second book for all people around the world. It's not only for the Muslims. On that Holy night, we can also read the Hadith of the prophet Muhammad P(be upon him). May Allah give us tawfik to live whole life according to Quran and Sunnah. As we know the prophet Muhammad said:

I have left with you two things which, if you follow them, you will never go astray: the Book of God and the sunna of His Prophet.

Performing Dua & Dhikr

Shab E Meraj Durud

After finishing the Salah, you should remember the Almighty Allah. It's called zikr. Allah likes those persons who always remember Allah by Dhikir. We should always keep ourselves on the Dhikirullah. After the Salah, do some zikr seating on the prayermat and make dua to Allah. Dua is the most important thing, it can change your life. If you ask help to Allah on that night, the possibility of acceptance will be high. Our beloved prophet said about dua:
Du’aa is the brain of worship.
Duas:
Astaghfirullaha rabbi min kulli zunbin wa atbu elaihi
Subhanallahi wal humdu lillahi wa la elaha illal lahu walllahu akber

Performing Fasting

Fasting is an acceptable form of worship. If you want to celebrate Shab-e-Miraj, then there is a lot of reward for fasting. Fasting prevents people from doing all kinds of bad things, which makes it easy to get closer to God. There is no specificity in how many fastings are required here. You fast one day, many stay two. That's no problem!

Conclusion

This was detailed information about Shab e Miraj. All the important issues are discussed here. Especially how you celebrate this day and what kind of worship you should do. We should spend that night in the worship of Allah. This is a very important night in Islam which is regarded as a night of worship. On that night there is much the possibility of accepting the blessings. May Allah forgive us. Amen!
